Toronto Window Treatments is a leading architectural shading studio specializing
in the design, supply, and integration of advanced window treatment solutions
for commercial and residential environments. We believe window treatments
are more than a finishing touch, they are an integral architectural element.
By controlling light and texture, they shape the atmosphere, define sightlines,
and enhance wellbeing. Our approach unites technical precision with design
sensitivity, ensuring every project is both functional and visually coherent.
Case Studies and Projects
Simons Yorkdale and Eaton Center
Simons Yorkdale and Eaton Center were a unique and extremely challenging project, as we
needed to supply and install custom drapery and LUTRON motorized roller shades for two
store locations across 3 floors within 2 months.
The project involved collaboration with the best designers and architects in Toronto and
Montreal, with over 20-ft ceilings and a smart automation system.
From custom-made 20-ft curtains to programming over 100 LUTRON shades, we did it all.
It was an honour to take part in such a luxurious project, and the results speak for
themselves.
Sobeys
Supply and installation of 200 motorized shades at Sobeys main headquarters in
Mississauga.
For this project, we used ALTEX as the roller shades manufacturer and Somfy as the motor
system.
To achieve a uniform look and ensure shade alignment throughout the space, we used a
coupled shade system. This unique system allows us to control multiple shades with a
specialized center bracket and lift up to 6 shades with a single motor. By doing so, we not
only reduce costs but also ensure all shades are perfectly levelled.
Grandview Children's Centre
The Grandview Children's Centre project aimed to create learning environments with our
shading systems that support, focus, enhance visibility, and balance energy.
Our shades helped to control daylight and reduce glare on screens and boards, creating
clear, comfortable spaces for study and collaboration.
Over 300 manual and motorized roller shades withstand daily use while maintaining
smooth, silent performance across classrooms and large atriums. The main challenge is
ensuring uniform light control across varied orientations and maintaining durability in high-
traffic areas. With ALTEX and Somfy systems, we delivered a reliable, low-maintenance
solution that enhances comfort and reduces operational energy costs.

LUTRON
LUTRON stands at the forefront of architectural window treatments, uniting precision engineering with quiet performance and timeless aesthetics. Sivoia QS defines system intelligence and scalability, delivering synchronized movement with millimeter level accuracy across multiple shades. Integrated with LUTRON lighting and control ecosystems, it responds to daylight, occupancy, and scheduled scenes to maintain comfort, consistency, and energy efficiency.
The Palladiom collection is conceived for exposed applications, with hand finished aluminum brackets, concealed fasteners, and a floating roller that lets light move across glass without visual interruption. Every component, from the perfectly aligned hembar to the ultra quiet motor, is crafted for balance and proportion, transforming a technical system into a sculptural architectural detail suited to premium residential and refined commercial spaces.
Canadian Engineering
Altex
Altex specializes in architectural window treatments for commercial and institutional spaces, uniting technical performance, sustainability, and design cohesion in a single system. Their Architectural Series roller shades pair precision machined aluminium hardware and low profile brackets with a curated range of screen and blackout fabrics that support acoustic comfort, UV control, and daylight management. Many of their textiles are PVC free, GREENGUARD certified, and woven with recycled fibers, aligning with contemporary LEED and WELL objectives while offering a refined, North American made solution for offices, universities, and hospitality environments.
Intelligent Motion for Modern Architecture
Somfy
Somfy brings intelligent motorization to architectural window treatments, combining quiet performance, durability, and seamless integration with modern control systems. The Sonesse series, including Sonesse 40 and 50 WF, delivers whisper quiet motion, compact form, and precise torque control for commercial roller shades, maintaining alignment across multiple shades so large façades move in harmony. For drapery, the Glydea Ultra system offers smooth, fluid movement with a refined sound profile, manual override, and flexible control options, making it a trusted choice for demanding commercial and hospitality environments.
Hospitality
In hospitality environments, shading shapes comfort, mood, and atmosphere with smooth, silent motorized roller and drapery systems that are easy for guests and staff to control. Trusted in premium settings including Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, and St. Regis, fabrics and controls are selected to balance light, privacy, and acoustic comfort while integrating discreetly with lighting and automation for a calm, refined look across guestrooms and public areas.
Offices
In modern offices, shading systems manage daylight to reduce glare, stabilize temperature, and support energy efficiency while preserving natural light. Trusted in professional environments including Sobeys and Alectra, our LUTRON, Somfy, and Altex solutions integrate with lighting and HVAC to deliver quiet, coordinated performance that supports comfort and visual harmony.
Educational and Medical Institutions
In schools and universities, shading supports visual comfort, focus, and energy efficiency by managing daylight in classrooms, lecture halls, and libraries. Our work includes projects for Grandview Child Care Centre, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, George Brown College, and York University, with Somfy and Altex systems that reduce glare on screens, stabilize temperature, and help create consistent learning environments throughout the day.
